Thinking

It’s something we do CONSTANTLY. Sometimes it is conscious and sometimes not. Thoughts can take us down rabbit holes of negative experiences or open us up to imagination and wonder.

Like many of you, maybe all of you, there are people in my life that challenge my desire to have all I want and to go about life being happy, positive and open to experiences. There’s the angry driver who honks as soon as the light turns green and the neighbor that doesn’t realize that sound travels at 3 o’clock in the morning. And what about the person at work that never has anything nice to say about anyone? These can all challenge a happy mood for sure!

So what do we do? Well, a great place to start is to write down the thoughts as they come. Good, bad, curious, odd.

Pick a time when you can make a thought download list. This is most helpful when your mood begins to shift into negative territory.

Questions to ask yourself might be:

Why did I have that thought? What triggered it? How does that make me feel? What do I make it mean? What’s a thought I could replace it with? What thought could I choose instead?

You always have a choice about what to think. The power to change is within you right now so take time and decide to consciously think thoughts that make you practice awareness and growth.

Every journey starts with a thought.
